Letter from Executive Director Donna Cornelius

The LINC Summer Picnic -- what a great start to summer! This year we held it at the beautiful Wildlands Conservancy! Joining in were LINC clients (but we prefer to call them LINC friends), staff, Ambassadors, Board members and community friends! We had lots of food and good fellowship and topped it all off with fun games, a short nature hike and a few local creatures! (We took lots of photos so check them out on Facebook! Our one new feathery friend even talked and brought a few more friends!)

Connecting Makes A Difference

I have moved nine times and have lived in three different states and three different countries. For the past ten years, the town of Center Valley, which is located in the southern part of Lehigh County, has been my “home”. I really love living in the Lehigh Valley and appreciate the opportunities to enjoy everything the area has to offer.

Happy Holidays from LINC!

Holidays are celebrated in many forms! And although I celebrate one specific holiday, for me it means being with family and friends! I do not live near family as I, like you, moved away from family a long time ago. Fortunately, we are not too far away to gather a couple of times throughout the year. Not having family and being in a new area where you may not have many friends can be a bit lonely around the holidays. But, thankfully, as it is Thanksgiving and I truly believe in counting our blessings, LINC -- holding true to its name -- is all about the CONNECTION!

LINC WhatsApp Group

You may have heard about our LINC WhatsApp group – it’s something we’ve been excited to share with you ever since we created it. One of our clients suggested a group like this so members of the LINC community (which includes Lehigh Valley newcomers, LINC staff and Ambassadors, and longtime Lehigh Valley residents) could share information like fun events in the area, must-see local attractions, and general tips and advice.

Happy New Year from LINC! A Message from Donna Cornelius, Executive Director

Happy New Year! It is amazing to think another year has passed! In the last year LINC has served more than 100 individuals and families from across the United States and around the world! Some just for a phone call upon receiving a job offer, but for many, the LINC staff has helped you find resources, introduce many of you to others in the community and to each other, and spend time with you personally. I hope you all know that the staff and I here at LINC do not do this just because it is our job, but we truly understand all that comes with moving. We sincerely want to help you make the Lehigh Valley your home.

Pork = New Year’s Luck in the Lehigh Valley

Although I've lived in the Lehigh Valley since 2006, I had never eaten pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day until I joined a family that draws its roots in Pennsylvania Dutch culture. I'm not from Pennsylvania or "Dutch" (really, German), so until I began dating my now-husband, I hadn't considered it an essential tradition. But in his family, it's no joke - everyone eats pork, and even those who aren't wild about sauerkraut need to have some of that, too. It's good luck to do it, and bad luck not to.

My Transition - A Message from Samantha Smith, LINC Marketing Intern, Lehigh ‘18

Everyone goes through change, whether as a toddler crawling off to a new preschool or an adult starting a new career in a big city. Not everyone handles change the same way. Change can mean stress sweating, sleepless nights, yelling at your pillow or enjoying the ride as your new life forms around you. The biggest change in my life so far happened to be moving to the Lehigh Valley for higher education at Lehigh University.
