The LINC Summer Picnic -- what a great start to summer! This year we held it at the beautiful Wildlands Conservancy! Joining in were LINC clients (but we prefer to call them LINC friends), staff, Ambassadors, Board members and community friends! We had lots of food and good fellowship and topped it all off with fun games, a short nature hike and a few local creatures! (We took lots of photos so check them out on the LINC Facebook! Our one new feathery friend even talked and brought a few more friends!)
It’s a common thing
The one thing I have learned through my many moves and traveling across the country is that people are not so different. And ALL of our LINC friends have at least one very common thread – everyone is NEW to the Lehigh Valley. Represented at the picnic were LINC friends who have been here a year or so to some who arrived in the last two weeks. Regardless of the when -- LINC events and meet-ups are a great way to get connected.
A little mingling, a little conversation, a little community
How better to connect? Being introduced by someone who knows you. The second common thread – each of our LINC friends knows at least one LINC staff member. One of my favorite things to do is to introduce people who have things in common. I am very blessed and fortunate to have a job that allows me to meet people from literally all over the world. (This part isn’t really a job.) I greatly enjoy meeting new people and learning about them: where they come from and what they like doing. And from there I introduce. It is like building a community puzzle of people and places.
From the people (LINC and community friends) to the places, these events are a great way to connect and build a community with people you might never have had the opportunity to meet otherwise from across the valley! (Every LINC meet-up or event is held at a different location to give LINC’s clients a chance to explore all that the Lehigh Valley has to offer.)
Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming meet-ups and opportunities to connect socially and professionally!
I look forward to seeing you soon!
PS – Thank you to Wildlands Conservancy for donating their education center, the pavilion and the staff who did a beautiful job with the nature hike and wild life presentation! A fabulous time was had by all!
