No Garden, No Problem

If you are not inclined (or so bold) to grow your own vegetables you can take advantage of local produce, meat and dairy from the many local farms found at Lehigh Valley farmers’ markets throughout the Valley.

The Lehigh Valley: A Vortex of Pollen Problems for Allergy Sufferers?

Ask anyone in the LINC office or anyone who sees me on a regular basis, and they’ll all confirm: I have more than a bit of experience with allergies. If I were one of Snow White’s seven dwarves, I’d be Sneezy. I’m allotted one “bless you” in the morning and one in the afternoon, because otherwise, I’d tire everyone out. What I didn’t know prior to moving to the Lehigh Valley is that it consistently ranks in the top 100 “allergy capitals” of America; Allentown ranked 59th most challenging place to live with spring allergies and 19th most challenging place to live with asthma in 2015.

All About Pennsylvania Taxes

The Lehigh Valley continues to experience substantial growth that is attracting new entrepreneurs, employees, and residents every year. As the excitement of relocating settles, the reality of filing taxes in a new state sets in. Few states use a flat tax, however Pennsylvania (PA) is one of them, at 3.07%. Most of PA’s taxable income is derived from compensation, interest, dividends, business profits, and rental income, which are all taxed at the flat rate. March Madness

My wife thinks I am crazy, and I will confess – she may be right. Playing basketball well into my seventh decade does seem a bit unusual. However, it is more of an addiction than a psychosis. You see, there is something about the game – the teamwork, competition and camaraderie – that took hold of me many years ago and won’t release me from its grasp. Maybe it’s the subtlety of a no-look pass, the sublimity of a well-executed pick and roll or the sensuousness of a crisp “swish” when an arcing three-pointer hits its mark. Whatever the reason, the game is alluring and continues to fascinate me.

Parking Spot Saving: A Time-Honored Lehigh Valley Tradition

Urban newcomers, especially those of you from warmer climes, if this is your first winter in the Lehigh Valley, you might be wondering what would compel people to place their recycling bins and folding chairs in the parking lane on your street. It's because in the Lehigh Valley, if someone cleared that space of snow and ice, they probably think they are entitled to park there until the snow melts.

Embracing Winter!

Perhaps I am a little biased, but hear me out. I love winter, and I particularly love winter in the Lehigh Valley. I may come by my love of winter naturally. After all, I was born and raised in Canada. I may have nurtured my love of winter during the 17 years I lived in Michigan. Whichever it is, I’ve learned that when the weather turns cold and the skies turn grey, it is time to bundle up and enjoy!
